If you’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea, deciding on the best machine for you is an important step. There are many different types of therapy machines available, depending on your needs:
CPAP: Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy is the most commonly recommended. A CPAP machine provides air at a constant prescribed pressure.
APAP: Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (APAP) machines automatically adjust on a breath-by-breath basis to blow the minimum pressure needed to keep your airway open during sleep.
Bilevel: Also referred to as a BiPAP, Bilevel devices deliver two separate and distinct pressures: a higher pressure is needed for inhalation, while a lower pressure is needed for exhalation. The machine alternates between the two pressures, which are set per the doctor’s prescription.
