This is referred to as “rainout.” Rainout occurs when the warm, humidified air in the tubing cools, changing from vapor to liquid. In time the water builds up until the air pressure must bubble through the water. Suggested solutions are to decrease the heated humidifier setting, warm the room, insulate the tubing with a towel or a CPAP hose cover, lower the CPAP machine below the level of the bed, and/or decrease the amount of water in the chamber.
