FAQ's
Q Does the Freedom V² work with most common makes & models of PAP devices?
A Yes. Sophisticated variable voltage output combined with unique DC communication cables allow the Freedom V² to power most common PAP devices. Our 150W Sine Wave Power Inverter is used to complete the connection between the PAP device and the battery for those models without a unique cable. *Some obsolete PAP devices and targeted ventilation PAP devices may not be compatible or may require more power than the battery can provide
Q Does insurance pay for the Freedom V²?
A The Freedom V² CPAP Battery is not a Medicare coded item and is not considered medically necessary; therefore, it will most likely not be covered by insurance. However, some insurance companies have opted to cover the battery using HCPCS code A4601.
Q Can the Freedom V² be used as a battery backup system during power outages?
A Yes. The Freedom V² can be setup as an uninterrupted battery backup system and in the event power is lost the will battery automatically turn on and begin powering the PAP device. It is designed with a built-in cell bypass feature so battery power is only used when AC power is unavailable thus extending the overall life of the battery.
Q Can the Freedom V² be taken on an airplane?
A Yes. The Freedom V² meets current FAA requirements for lithium-ion batteries allowed in carry-on baggage (100 Wh or less per battery).
Q Can the Freedom V² be used to charge other small electronics?
A Yes. The Freedom V² features a Quick Charge 3.0 USB port perfect for charging your favorite portable electronics like cell phones, tablets, MP3 players, cameras, and more.
Q How long does it take to charge the Freedom V² using AC power?
A Charge times depend on the capacity of the AC power supply being used to charge the Freedom V² battery.
Charge Times:
- 2-3 hrs @ 90W
- 3-4 hrs @ 60W
- 8-9 hrs @ 20W
Q Can the Freedom V² be charged in a vehicle or by using solar power?
A Yes. The Auto Charge DC Cable or 150W Sine Wave Power Inverter can be used to charge the battery in a vehicle and the Freedom 50W Solar Panel charges the battery using the power of the sun. This solar panel also features a QC 3.0 USB port and set of universal connector tips so you charge other external batteries and small portable electronics.
Q How do you store the Freedom V² Battery?
A Fully charge the battery before storage. For optimal performance charge and discharge the battery once every 90 days. Store the battery in a dry, cool and well ventilated place away from extreme heat (> 104°F) and direct sunlight. Storage temperature range is -4°F to 104°F; however, the optimal range is 60°F to 80°F.
Q Why does the battery have lower than expected run times?
A Using heated humidification and/or heated tubing is the number one cause of lower than expected run times. For optimal battery performance disable and/or detach your humidifier and heated tubing! If heated humidification or tubing is required, lowering your heat settings may help or you can bridge two batteries together.
A high pressure setting (> 16 cm/H20) can impact run times especially when other factors are present. All run time testing is done on a pressure setting of 10 cm/H20.
A leaking mask makes the device work harder to maintain your prescribed pressure setting and thus it draws more power.
The device type will impact the run time as some types (BiLevel/BiPAP, VPAP, SV, etc.) draw more power than a standard CPAP.
Q Why does the battery start, then stop working?
A If the battery starts powering your device and then shuts down, try to reset the internal circuitry. If the battery continues to shut down, the device you are trying to power may
- have higher amp requirements (> 8A) than the battery can provide
- require a constant voltage output to operate properly (the Freedom V² battery operates on a voltage range of 10V-28V)
To reset the battery press the charge level/reset button for a full 10 seconds. The display screen will flash two dash marks. Release the button and wait until the screen goes blank for the battery to reset.
Q Does the Freedom V² meet safety regulations & shipping requirements?
A Yes. The Freedom V² CPAP Battery has been UN 38.3 certified, meets UL2056 testing standards, and current safety regulations and shipping requirements.

Compatibility and Run Times
Multiple factors can affect PAP device run times including, but not limited to, device type, heated humidifier and heated tubing use, pressure setting, and altitude. Using heated humidification or heated tubing will significantly reduce run times by up to two thirds in most cases and in some cases could prevent the Freedom V² from being able to power the device. BiLevel devices will always have lower run times as the pressure setting is not constant which in turn requires more power to operate the device.
Device | Run Time with Single Battery |
ResMed Air 10 Series | 1-3 nights |
Respironics DreamStation Series | 1-2 nights |
ResMed S9 Series | 1-3 nights |
Respironics DreamStation Go Travel CPAP | 1-2 nights |
ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP | 1-3 nights |
Respironics System One 60 Series | 1-3 nights |
Transcend & Z1/Z2 Travel CPAPs | 1-2 nights |
Other PAP Device Models |
